An excellent set complete in two volumes. The first edition of 1797-98, second state with twelve lines to the penultimate paragraph on page 432, as stated by ESTC. This edition was reprinted in Dublin by H. Fitzpatrick.This fantastic set contains an extensive list of biographical sketches and anecdotes relating to the founders of the French Republic and important people during the French Revolution; the work is sometimes attributed to John Adolphus, however it has not been proven that he is the author. Delineating the lives of over one hundred revolutionaries, from Albitte to Wallot, and from Barbaroux to Volney; including Buonaparte, Dumas, Buonarotti, Louis XVI, Lacroix, Rabault, Voltaire. Illustrated with a folding plate to the frontispiece of each volume, a folding plate in volume one being the charter of the "proferiptions" of parties in France, and a folding map of the French Republic to volume two.
