Schmucker, S. S. - Discourse in Commemoration of the Glorious Reformation of the Sixteenth Century. Delivered Before the Evangelical Lutheran Synod of West Pennsylvania

New York / Philadelphia, Gould & Newman / Henry Perkins, 1838. Second Edition. Second edition, improved (published a few months after the original first); 6 x 4; pp. [4], 1-137, [5]; textured brown cloth over boards; gilt title to front board; small rubbed spots to tips of spine and corners; a bit of fading and age-toning to margins of boards; foxing mostly contained to endpapers and, occasionally, to margins of leaves; small signature of previous owner to front board verso; overall in very good condition. Samuel Simon Schmucker (1799 - 1873) was a German-American Lutheran theologian, pastor, and author. He was also the co-founder of the General Synod and the Gettysburg Seminary. His current book presented the history of the pre-Reformation "reign of Popery" and the glorious "rise and triumph of the Reformation. Very good .
