Complete in two volumes.In Latin.A vanishingly scarce work.Originally published in five parts, here bound in two half vellum volumes.An extensive and detailed analysis of the manuscripts held at the Monte Cassino.The Monte Cassino library was one of the richest in Europe in the tenth and eleventh centuries, including works regarding all civilisations across history and the globe.Most importantly this monastery was known for the manuscripts made in the scriptorium, the monastery holding a famous school of manuscript illuminators.Volume I illustrated with twenty-three colour plates.Volume II illustrated with one colour folding plate, and fifteen colour plates. In a half vellum binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, smart, with some spots and discolouration to the vellum, as is usual. Some lighter marks to the boards, heavier to the rear board of Volume I. Minor bumping to the extremities. Ink to the head of the spines. Very small amount of the cloth to the rear joint of Volume II is lifting. Institutional monastery library to the front paste downs. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spotting, including to the plates. Neat tape repair to the half-title of Volume II. Very Good . Ill.: Not Stated. Very Good .
