The author had an interesting career but died tragically by drowning just after marrying Elizabeth Boleman-Herring, his body being found having washed upon the shores of Salonika. Volume contains scholarly apparatus in the form of, e.g., notes, index, and bibliography. it has suffered since classical times. Eleazar Swalmius (Rhoon, 1582 - Amsterdam, 1652) was een bekend Nederlands contra-remonstrantse predikant en theoloog. Vermoedelijk kende Swalmius\' familie Rembrandt goed, aangezien een broer van de predikant, Carel, getuige was bij het opstellen van Rembrandt en Saskia van Uylenburghs testament.
