- A Newspaper History of the Recent Strike
New York, , 1894. First Edition Thus. Softcover. Size: 8vo 8" - 9" tall. A perfectly serviceable reference copy of a collection of pro-Capital, anti-Labor, anti-union pronouncements on a then "recent" strike involving the American Railway Union; nothing fancy, but complete and reasonably sturdy, being simple printed wraps, staple-bound, a bit chipped at extremities but clean; ink-stamp of former owner at front cover, coffee-cup ring at rear panel, radiating waffling there. Published in 1894, it assembles articles and op-eds from the New York Sun, New York Tribune, and the New York Evening Post. Almost the entirety is a pro-Capital, anti-Eugene Debs rant. The Wikipedia entry devoted to the two interrelated strikes in 1894 notes that it "shaped national labor policy in the United States during a period of deep economic depression." One strike was in 1894 by the American Railway Union against the company that made the Pullman railroad cars. It failed, but then the ARU launched a national strike "that lasted from May 11 to July 20, 1894" which ground freight and passenger traffic to a halt West of Detroit, Michigan (Wikipedia). Housed in a plastic sleeve.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. . . . Good

I've done my best to state clearly and truthfully the condition of each and every book I have listed on-line. Sometimes, however, books change condition insofar as they sit on the shelf for a long time, get moved by customers, get taken to and from book fairs, and so on. Most orders will ship within one to two business days, but often times, they will go out on the same day as they are ordered. I've based my shipping costs on the assumption of books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized (extra thick, extra long, etc.), I may contact you to let you know that extra shipping is required. Bubble mailers and boxes will be expertly and securely wrapped and monitored. Please contact us if there is anything extra or different you need us to do.
Credit cards currently acceptable include: Visa, MasterCard and American Express. We also accept personal checks, PayPal, money orders, and Cashier's Checks.
Return policy;
If for some reason you don't like your purchase or it arrives somehow damaged, or if it doesn't get to you at all, you might be eligible for a refund within 30 days of the estimated delivery date. If you've changed your mind about a book that you've ordered, please contact me and I'll respond within two business days.
