The half-title for the 1798 'Proceedings' is the first leaf in this copy.The proceedings of the act of the House of Industry, established in Dublin by an act in 1703. In 1729, the House of Industry became a foundling hospital as well.The House of Industry was help for the employment and maintaining the poor. By 1796, only a couple of years before this work, the House of Industry accommodated more than one-thousand seven-hundred people.The 'acting governors' were each elected annually, with a total of seven governors. Disbound. Externally, the outer leaves are a little age-toned with some marks. A little remains of the original backstrip. Internally, firmly bound. pages are age-toned and generally clean with some marks and some spots. Puncture marks to the gutter of the text. Pages 3-6 are detaching. Page 67/68 is detached but present. page 31/32 is a little closely cropped to the tail, affecting only the note. A small amount of edgewear to the textblock. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .

The complete four volume set of 1960 publications from the Committee on the Working of the Monetary System, consisting of three volumes of the 'Principal Memoranda of Evidence', and a large single volume dedicated to 'Minutes of Evidence&apos. Published a decade before the UK conversion to decimalisation, these volumes contain reports and oral discussions on the monetary policy and workings of the Bank of England, often referred to as the Radcliffe Report, named after its chairman. The report started collecting evidence in 1957, as a result of dissatisfaction with the workings of monetary policy in the 1950s. London, Privately Printed , 1853. Hardback. A privately printed political work from David Urquhart, in which he discusses the 1852 London Protocol and the schism of Denmark and the Duchies. Privately printed. A very scarce copy. A discussion of the recently signed London Protocol of 1852, an international treaty which affirmed the integrity of the Danish federation and where duchies of Schleswig (a Danish fief) and Holstein and Lauenburg (German fiefs) were joined by personal union with the Kingdom of Denmark. Together with a second edition printing of 'Denmark and the Duchies', with notes on the assassination of the Sultan, Austrian occupation of the Duchies etc.Written by David Urquhart, a British diplomat and politician. Throughout his own piece, he makes his opinion of this treaty known, renouncing it as a scheme to set aside the Danish succession and aligning it with his notably anti-Russian views. Also included for reference is an article from The Times announcing the treaty and a protest of the Prince of Schleswig-Holstein. With a dual-spread genealogical table. Collated, lacking a second folding genealogical table. Bound in later paper covered boards, with spine label. Externally, excellent, with minimal signs of shelf wear. A detailed record of the minutes of evidence on the affairs of the East India Company, an English, and later British, joint-stock company founded in 1600 and dissolved in 1874. Formed to trade in the Indian Ocean region, initially with the East Indies and later with East Asia. The company gained control of large parts of South Asia and colonised parts of Southeast Asia and Hong Kong. At its peak, it was the largest corporation in the world by various measures and had its own armed forces in the form of the company's three presidency armies. With extracts from the Report of the Committee. Includes commentary on the home government, local government, law, natives, ecclesiastical commitment, patronage, education, the press, the settlement of Europeans in India, and much more. A vanishingly scarce copy of the twenty-fourth report investigating a number of charities in England and Wales in the early nineteenth century. First edition. Vanishingly scarce. The twenty-fourth report given by a group of commissioners who were appointed to investigate two acts of parliament, being: "An Act for appointing Commissioners to inquire concerning Charities in England, for the Education of the Poor""An Act to amend and Act of the last Session of Parliament, for appointing Commissioners to inquire concerning Charities in England, for the Education of The Poor, and to extend the Powers therof to other Charities in England and Wales". Originally passed in 1818 during the reign of King George III, these acts aimed to improve charitable foundations, with the report of 1831 undertaken to determine the acts' progress. Discussing charities from Durham, Huntingdon, London, Suffolk, Surrey, Worcester and Bedford, as well as the notable mention of Ashton's Charity and Almshouses. Lacking pages 213-480, which would have contained information on the the County of Salop. Illustrated with two plates, as called for. Bound in full modern cloth. Externally, excellent, with a few marks and light rubbing to the extremities. Endpapers renewed and blanks retained. Tide mark to front blank. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are a little age toned, with a few spots. Final hundred pages, including plates, have a black mark to the center of the page, from fire damage, although text remains readable. This damage has caused the affected area to be a little delicate, with a few small chips. Portion of title page has been excised, not affecting text. Lacking p213-480. London, J Roberts, 1744. Paperback. A politically fuelled eighteenth century pamphlet, written anonymously and addressed to the 'Whigs and Well-Affected Tories&apos. This work charges that criticism of George II strengthens the Pretender's (James Stuart) cause. Two editions of this work appeared in this year by the same publisher. This work is a copy of ESTC no. N24599 and has the ornament on the title page of a face flanked by two cupids. There was another edition of 1744 issued by J Roberts and another copy printed in Dublin for Joshua Kinnier. This edition is closely cropped to the bottom edge in some places, affecting the occasional catch-word and printer's signature mark. The author of this work is unknown. To the entry for the 1745 edition on the ESTC it is noted that there is a manuscript note 'By Mr. Gordon&apos. In paper wraps. Externally, generally smart. Loss to the paper wraps at the head of front wrap. Minor chipping to the extremities. Several light tidemarks to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound.
