Being long-immersed in Marxian thought and practice during his formative years Brecht eventually fled Germany in 1933 as the Nazis rose to power and settled first in Scandinavia then in Southern California. Three volumes sunned and faded a bit, but the other seven are brilliant, bright red, and every volume has a lower-case "b" for Brecht stamped to front covers.
