Handwritten Auction Particulars ; Two Cottages in Glemsford, Suffolk.
Glemsford, Suffolk: 7th September, 1841 . 0. 6 page paper document. 33cm x 21cm. Green silk tyes. 3 horizontal folds. Paper soiled and wear to edges and folds. Clear handwritten content including receipt of the deposit from Richard Pettitt. ** Family history records show that, when Richard Pettitt was born on December 10, 1812, in Glemsford, Suffolk, England, his father, Richard, was 22 and his mother, Hannah, was 19. is occupation was: Carpenter. He married Maria Adams on June 24, 1835, in his hometown. They had nine children in 15 years. He died in September 1853 in Suffolk, England, at the age of 40. In the 1851 census he is listed as a pauper. I therefore assume he was seriously ill. I would be interested in any further information.

Will & Probate of Rev Francis Creswell of Great Waldingfield, Suffolk
Great Waldingfield, Sudbury, Suffolk: Reverend Francis Cresswell 22nd December 1841 (Probate) 0. 22" x 27". 2 vellum sheets written on one side. Two vertical folds and three horizontal folds. Plus the probate certificate is attached , including the paper/wax seal. ** Family history records show Francis Cresswell was born in 1762. He married Jane Okes on October 12, 1807, in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England. He died on November 17, 1841, in Suffolk, England, having lived a long life of 79 years, and was buried in Great Waldingfield, Suffolk. *** "1807 - Francis Cresswell, S.T.B, Clare College, Cambridge; B.A. 1785; M.A. 1788; B.D. 1796; Fellow and Tutor; was instituted March 24, 1807, enjoying the benefice thirty-five years.He died Nov. 17. and was burried here November 24, 1841, aged 78 years. There is a tablet in the church. In the churchyard, West of the church, is a stone with the initials: "F.C." 1841, J.C. 1870. The Parish register gives Francis Cresswell, buried 24 Nov, 1841, aged 78. Smooth leather spine. 8.5" x 6.75" x 2.25". All page edges gilt. 16 leaves containing 46 black & white photographs. Wood effect decoration to all leaves, many torn where the pictures have been roughly inserted. All pictures in good condition. People identified include: Fanny Newill (b. 1867) who married (1893) Reverend Arthur Gitting Lloyd (b.1865) and lived at "The Vineyard", Wellington; John Thorney (snr.) ; Ellis Thorney; John William (Jock) Clarke; Admiral Chaloner (Longhull, Guisborough); Curates Henry Clarke & Francis Henry Morgan; R. Sherratt sc. after a painting by Henry Bridgeman Pt. 3.6" x 2.3" . ** Thomas Sherratt , engraver, 1812-1880. ** Henry Bridgman (1831–1909) was baptised at St Peter’s church, Sudbury on 7 October 1831, son of John Bridgman (c1803-31 January 1880), a linen draper, Henry was apprenticed to printer/bookseller George Williams Fulcher (1795-1855) at 17 Market Hill, Sudbury, with whom he worked closely on illustrating the latter’s annual Pocket Books..He died at Sudbury on 7 November 1909, aged 78 - See: Copsey - Suffolk Book Trades (2012)).

In good condition with folds and creases and a few brown spots. **Family History Records show that: "Henry Nunn Carley was born in 1854 in Hopton, Suffolk, his father, William, was 24 and his mother, Susan, was 22. He married Jane Pengelly on 11 May 1879 in Stepney, Middlesex. They had eight children in 23 years. He died in 1927 in Edmonton, Middlesex, at the age of 73.".

London: College of Arms,1838 . 0. Samuel Addison of Wednesbury, Staffordshire. "The Arms of Addison.. Argent a Pile Gules three amulets one and two Counterchanged A Chief of the Second thereon three Garbs or, for crest on a wreath of the colours A demiunicorn couped Argent Armed Hoofed and Crined Or the Sinister foot resting on an Inescocheon Gules charged with a Leopards Face Gold.." The vellum indenture is housed in a black leather and gilt tooled wooden case (lid detached) with two seals. The case measures: 56cm long x 15cm wide x 6cm deep, with two gilt metal skippets containing red wax seals in very good condition . The indenture measures 50cm wide x 54cm long . ** Family history records show that: Samuel Addison was born on 13 August 1766 in Eccleshall, Staffordshire, his father, Samuel, was 43 and his mother, Sarah, was 41. He married Mary Kendrick on 22 February 1792 in Wednesbury, Staffordshire. He was involved in his Father\'s Banking Company : "Samuel Addison & Sons". They had three children during their marriage. He died in May 1849 in Wednesbury, Staffordshire, having lived a long life of 82 years.

London: Printed & Published by Netherclift & Durlacher, Lithographic Artists & Printers, 18, Brewer Street, Golden Square, [ No date c. 1850 ] . 0. Folio. 11.75" x 9.75". Folded bi-folio tipped-in on heavy card and bound into a 19th century folder. Crimson straight-grained morocco. Gilt title to front board: "Autos. &c. - Lord Nelson." Edges lightly rubbed and bumped. Carefully re-backed in matching calf and gilt title: "Nelson's Last Letter. 19. Oct. 1805." Marbled endpapers. Engraved bookplate to verso of the front board: " Ex Libris Frank Fletcher, Vita Sine Literis Mors Est" . Small binder's label to recto of the rear board: "B. F. Hardwick, Stationer Bookbinder &c. Bradford." Clean facsimile with later explanation: "On the morning of the 19th of October 1805, the combined fleets of France and Spain, lying in Cadiz harbour began to get under weigh. At half past 9 a.m. a signal was made that the Enemy's fleet were coming out of port. At 3 p.m. Nelson received the long wished for intelligence that they were at sea. It was then, that rejoicing at the near approach of that moment he had ardently awaited, Nelson penned the interesting document of which (by the kind permission of the Trustees of the British Museum) we here present a facsimile. it was found open on his desk, together with one addressed to his daugher Miss Horatia Nelson Thompson, now in the possession of Mrs H. N. Ward. To the last writing of Nelson, Lady Hamilton has added: "this letter was found open on his desk and bought to Lady Hamilton, by Captain Hardy. O miserable wretched Emma, Oh , glorious and happy Nelson." The envelope containing these leters is superscribed "The enclosed letters were found after the action, and sealed up in the prescence of the Revd. Mr. Scott, signed T. M. Hardy".

Abergeldie Castle, Aberdeenshire: 5th October 1872 . Autograph letter signed to 'Dear Sir', (Sir Francis, 1837-1924, Private Secretary, 1870-1913, to Prince Albert Edward (Later King Edward VII). Including the original envelope with penny-red stamp addressed to Philip Foster, Park Place, Leeds. Black edge to both envelope and leatter. Rear of envelope with black wax royal seal and circular postmarks for Leeds and Ballater, and Aberdeen. ** Family history records show: Philip Foster was born in 1840 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England, his father, Edwin, was 31 and his mother, Harriette, was 25. He is listed as a Surgeon MD. Obviously with some royal association. He had two brothers and three sisters. He died on August 22, 1927, at the age of 87, and was buried in his hometown.
