A very scarce copy of the 'Cinderella' volume from Father Tuck's Panorama Series.A unique work with five beautiful and colourful images of figures, depicting Cinderella, the Ugly Sisters, the Fairy Godmother, Cinderella dancing with the Prince, and a Herald leading Cinderella back to the Royal Palace. Complete with unpunched bases for holding the paper figures, all of which are unpunched. Front wrap is a beautiful embossed chromolithograph.With instructions to the reverse of the front wrap, and four leaves telling the story of Cinderella.From the library of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie, from her library at Julians Park, Hertfordshire. After being widowed at 25, Audrey married the fabulously wealthy American department store heir, Marshall Field III, later divorcing him and marrying the Honorable Peter Pleydell-Bouverie. In 1940 she bought Julians Park and redesigned the interior. Her library was impressive, with many examples of her own bookbinding.Audrey was an extravagant socialite and renowned beauty, the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII (though she was also rumoured to be his daughter, or the lover of King Edward VIII), featured in the 'Book of Beauty' by Cecil Beaton. She had many high profile friends, such as Winston Churchill, Coco Chanel, Fred Astaire, and Nancy Mitford, a sparkling hostess of the Edwardian period, her hedonistic antics bringing her into the Bright Young Things. 'The Old Man & The Devils' is No. 7 in the Japanese Fairy Tale Series, a series conceived by the publisher Takejiro Hasegawa with the aim to help Japanese children learn English. This entertaining tale tells the story of an old man who encounters a large gathering of devils. Upon viewing their merriment from the safety of a cave, the old man decides to join them in their dancing, leading to some unusual and unforeseen events.
