He stressed the importance of analysing history and such shines through in his biography of the famous admiral.He inspired fellow thinkers Alfred Thayer Mahan and Herbert Richmond, and wrote more than 900 entries on naval personalities in the Dictionary of National Biography. In full tree calf. The prized binding from King Edward's School, Bury St. Edmunds with bookplate to front paste down. Externally, in excellent condition, with very minor rubbing to the extremities. Marble end papers and gold fore-edge are very smart. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with the odd spot to the occasional leaf. Heavier to the first and final leaves.
