Containing the first report given by the Metropolitan Sanitary Commission in 1848, a group established to investigate the state of public health in London and make recommendations for improvements. This report marks an important step in addressing public health concerns and led the way for changes to the city's sanitation and hygiene. Illustrated with vignettes throughout and two folding plans. Collated, complete.Facsimile signature dated 1847 to folding plate. Bound in the publisher's cloth. Externally, sound, with bumping to the extremities and a bend to the front board, causing some cockling to the cloth. A little discolouration to spine and board extremities, with a few marks to spine, including a few from damp staining. Light spotting to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound.
