A first edition copy. In the publisher's original dark cloth binding with gold and black stamped embellishment to the front board and spine. Externally, excellent with slight rubbing to extremities. Slight bumping to head and tail of spine. Small split to tail of volume I. Very faint handling marks to boards. Internally firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean throughout. Very slight age toning to extremity of pages. Occasional handling mark to the odd page. Small loss to lower extremity of page 347/8, volume II, not affecting text.
