Modern cloth, gilt edges, Orig. title-lable mounted on the spine (causing a small glue stain). First edition. This dictionary by Joseph Frey (1771-1850) was a massive achievement, which at the time of preview made some persons object that the author \'had done too much, by making the acquisition of the language so easy as to encourage indolence in the student\' (Pref., XIII). A reprint was issued for the author by Hamilton, London 1819.
