Used; Good Interesting provenance: inscribed A M Asquith, Khartoum 1906. A M (\'Oc\') Asquith was the third son of the British Prime Minister. He served in the Egyptian Civil Service from1906–11. The author, H F Saphir Amery, younger brother of Leo Amery and uncle of Julian Amery, was seconded for service with the Egyptian Army in 1901, and remained in Egypt till 1911, acting as Assistant Director of Intelligence and Indian Agent. Amery was a gifted linguist, with an exceptional knowledge of Eastern languages. Hardback.
