S. l. s. n. 1880. Large trade card, n. d. (1880s); 6 1/2 x 4 1/4; chromolithographed illustration and text to recto, blank verso; very minor wear; in very good to near fine condition. Unused, the card was possibly intended to be specifically used as a drug-advertising ephemera piece (a copy at the Wellcome Collection in London advertised Burdock Blood Bitters, used to treat dyspepsia, insomnia, biliousness, and constipation, with additional text: "You can eat anything from Mush to Rail Road Sandwiches by keeping your Stomach and Digestive Apparatus in perfect order by the use of..") It showed a grotesquely-exaggerated figures of two gentlemen - the first a horrified-looking train agent (?) and the second folded at the waist in a painfully-uncomfortable posture. Very good .
