Though the giant anchor managed to save the "Waterloo" en-route, fighting a severe storm, the death toll among the Force's soldiers during their service in the East Indies was horrible: only 300 returned home. Later, the anchor was brought to the Netherlands as a gift to the King. In 1880, the artists father and son van Looy made a stone lithograph of it. It was printed by the famous stone-lithographers firm of S. Lankhout & Co. of The Hague, and published in 1881 by Publisher Gouda Quint, of Arnhem. - .
