CARTIER Perrin, Alain-Dominique & Eric Nussbaum & Martine Chazal & Hiroshi Unno & Machiko Takanami:, The World of French Jewelry Art - The Art of Cartier
1995, (15,5 x 21,5 cm), 416 pp., Japanese and English texts, numerous (ca. 230) plates and ills. in colour & b/w., hardcover. Catalogue of the exhibition in the Tokyo, Metropolitan Teien Art Museum. The Teien Art Museum is a gem of Art Deco architecture, designed by French architect Henri Rapin. It was originally commissioned as an imperial residence by Prince Asaka, who was inspired by his visit to Paris for the World's Fair of Decorative Arts in 1925. After Paris and St Petersburg, the first tour of The Art of Cartier exhibition culminated in Tokyo in 1995, under the curatorship of Gilles Chazal and Machiko Takanami. The motifs of the Cartier Collection found echoes in the geometry of the décor and the designs in the wrought iron railings of this elegant mansion.
