Blanchard, T. - Yee Olde Mustang Poker Club - Original Ink-and-Watercolor Folk Art

S. l. (Monterey, CA), By the artist. Original drawing, n. d. (mid-20th-century); 9 1/2 x 13 1/4; ink and watercolor on glossy, beige card stock; manuscript signatures of the people pictured bellow image; thin strips of residue on verso from previously being framed; in very good condition. A delightful and quite-accomplished piece of Northern California folk art (provenance - previous owner), it memorialized the members of a local poker club - all of them presumably serving with the Air Force at the Presidio of Monterey. Six anthropomorphic horses, three ladies and three gents, grinned widely - the men dressed in military uniforms and the women displaying stylized Air Force insignia on their dresses. The Presidio - US Army installation, which houses the Defence Language Institute Foreign Language Center - has been home to the 517th Training Group of the US Air Force (under various names), since WWII. Very good .
